Join our R&D Consumer Science & Product Experience Team in Weybridge for a 12 month industrial placement, starting in July 2026.

At a glance:

Are you a student who is in their 2nd year at University looking to kick start your career in Sciences? In this role you will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of sensory science research projects across all stages of the new product innovation process, from early-stage exploration research to prototype testing studies within R&D. You will have the opportunity to work directly with and learn from an experienced team who will support you to reach your full potential.

R&D Sensory Scientist Industrial Placement: Key Responsibilities:

  • Work on a wide range of sensory projects across the oral health category
  • Gain experience and firsthand knowledge in Sensory Science whilst working on several critical projects
  • Measuring product design attributes of prototypes and competitor products
  • Define consumer needs and expectations and how these can be translated to product attributes
  • Process ingredient changes and how it affects the product experience
  • Working with an expert sensory panel to translate consumer behaviour, barriers and insights into technical solutions to improve the total product experience
  • Ensure all studies are completed according to relevant SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and compliance requirements, including documenting all compliance requirements in the online study management system.
  • Engage with people both internally and externally

Education Requirements:

Currently studying for an Undergraduate Degree in: Science, Life Science, Food, Health Science Basic working knowledge on Statistical Analysis is preferrable.

If you are studying for your Undergraduate Degree you must be in your 2nd year of study (England) or 3rd year of study (Scotland) and seeking to complete a year in industry in partnership with your university. Please ensure the role is suitable for your placement year.

Role Start Date: July 2026

  • Hirevue Online Assessment – you will be asked to complete a behaviour based online assessment/interview.
  • Hirevue One-Way Video Interview – if selected you receive a link to complete an one-way video interview focusing on your motivation for joining Haleon and what transferrable skills you will bring to the role. This will be screened by the Early Talent Team.
  • Interview – if selected you will be invited to attend a virtual interview; The interview will consist of a competency-based interview and may include a case study/technical exercise.
  • Offer – candidates will receive an outcome within 2 weeks following interview.

Interviews will be held in January/February 2026
