Leads the implementation of Responsible AI (RAI) frameworks and practices across AI/ML systems, ensuring ethical AI deployment, bias mitigation, and compliance with emerging AI governance standards. Opportunity to work on real-world projects that directly impact warfighter capabilities and mission success. Help write the policy that will influence how the department tests and evaluates AI across the joint force.Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement RAI frameworks for bias detection, fairness, and explainability
- Develop automated testing pipelines for AI model validation and monitoring
- Create governance processes for AI model lifecycle management
- Implement model interpretability and explainability solutions
- Establish metrics and monitoring systems for RAI compliance
- Lead cross-functional teams in RAI best practices adoption
- Develop training materials and documentation for RAI implementation
- Collaborate with legal and compliance teams on AI regulatory requirements
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in AI/ML engineering with focus on responsible AI practices
- Active TS/SCI clearance with ability to obtain CI Polygraph
- Advanced degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field
- Expertise in fairness metrics, bias detection, and model interpretability techniques
- Experience with RAI frameworks (Fairlearn, AI Fairness 360, What-If Tool, etc.)
- Strong understanding of AI ethics, governance, and regulatory landscape
- Proven track record of leading technical implementations and cross-functional initiatives
- AWS experience highly but not required
- Military experience strongly
