Leading property developer specialising in the design, construction, and management of high-quality student accommodation across the London and the South-East seek a proactive and commercially astute Quantity Surveyor to join their development team.
The successful candidate will play a key role in the financial and contractual management of projects from feasibility through to completion.
You will be responsible for managing all cost aspects of development projects, ensuring value for money, and maintaining high commercial standards throughout the project lifecycle. You will work closely with internal design, planning, and project management teams as well as external consultants and contractors.
Key Responsibilities

Prepare cost plans, feasibility studies, and budget estimates for new student accommodation developments.

Manage tendering processes — preparation of bills of quantities, tender documentation, and analysis of contractor submissions.
*
Negotiate and administer contracts (JCT/Design & Build or similar forms).
*
Undertake value engineering exercises to achieve optimal design and cost balance.
*
Prepare and manage project cash flows, cost reports, and forecasts.
*
Assess and certify interim valuations, variations, and final accounts.
*
Monitor and control project expenditure against budgets and forecasts.
*
Provide cost advice during design development to ensure alignment with financial objectives.
*
Liaise with the Development and Construction teams to ensure commercial risks are identified and mitigated.
*
Assist with procurement strategies and appointment of consultants, contractors, and suppliers.
Skills and Experience
*
Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or related discipline.
*
Minimum 1–5 years’ experience in a similar role within property development, main contracting, or consultancy.
*
Strong understanding of construction contracts, procurement methods, and cost management processes.
*
Experience with residential or student accommodation projects
