Quantity Surveyor - Manchester \n\nProject: Various projects across a range of sectors, including residential, industrial, commercial & retail with build values from £2m - £20m \n Location: Manchester, North West \n Job Type: Permanent \n Reporting into: Managing Director \n\nAbout the Company\n\nA North West-based principal contractor renowned for delivering cost-effective, high-quality construction projects. They operate across a broad spectrum of sectors, including Residential, Commercial, Industrial, and Retail, providing services that encompass the full project lifecycle-from initial design and planning through to construction and completion. With a strong track record of successfully completed projects and commitment to exceeding expectations, they focus on achieving exceptional client satisfaction and approval.\n\nThe Opportunity\n\nWe are currently seeking a highly experienced Quantity Surveyor to play a key role within the commercial team, overseeing commercial packages on projects across a variety of sectors, including residential, commercial, industrial, and retail, with construction values ranging from £2 million to £10 million.
You will work closely with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure that each project adheres to specifications, meets industry standards, and fulfils client expectations.\n\nWhat We're Looking For\n\nExperience:\n\nA demonstrated track record of managing and delivering commercial packages on projects with construction values in excess of £5m\nExtensive background within the industry with at least 3 years of experience working in a similar position for a leading contractor or subcontractorKey Skills:\n\nIT skills\nEffective time management\nSuperb negotiation capabilities\nAnalytical and Mathematical skills\nExcellent sales and presentation skills\nAbility to multitask and prioritise projects\nStrong communication and attention to details\nUnderstanding of construction laws and regulations\nThe ability to accurately estimate the costs associated with the project\nA solid understanding of construction materials, methods, and techniquesKey Responsibilities\n\nProcurement\nAnalysis of tender allowances\nOffer clients and project teams cost insights and financial guidance\nEstablish and oversee project budgets to ensure effective cost control\nProvide contractors with both interim and final payment documentation\nOversee project expenditures and ensure costs remain within the budget\nMaintain excellence in financial management and ensure precision in reporting\nImplement adherence with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards\nRecognise and oversee financial risks, formulating strategies for their mitigation\nAssess and analyse bids from contractors and suppliers to ensure they are cost-effective\nManage disputes and claims regarding expenses, striving for swift and effective resolution\nProvide clients with frequent project updates and address any additional concerns they may raise\nCreate comprehensive cost plans and budgets derived from architectural and engineering designs\nReview and manage modifications and change requests, ensuring that financial impacts are considered\nResolve all financial issues and ensure a smooth closure, maintaining comprehensive records for complete project finalization\nEngage in negotiations of contract terms and conditions with contractors and suppliers, ensuring alignment with project requirements and budget constraints\nGuarantee adherence to all contract terms, conditions, and specifications throughout the project, while aligning with project objectives and fulfilling client expectationsContact Details:\n\nContact: James Shorte (Associate Director) or Thomas Robertshaw (Resourcer) at Caval - (phone number removed)
