Quantity Surveyor Location: Wakefield Salary: £55,000 – £85,000 Package Project Values: £40,000,000 - £150,000,000 A leading main contractor specialising in large-scale commercial buildings and mission-critical data centre developments is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their growing commercial team in Wakefield. With a strong pipeline of projects across the North of England (within 45 minutes of Wakefield), this role offers long-term opportunity, progression and exposure to landmark schemes. Key Responsibilities: Manage the full commercial lifecycle across live construction projects, from procurement through to final account. Prepare, submit and negotiate interim valuations, variations and final accounts with clients and subcontractors. Source and evaluate competitive quotations, ensuring value and risk are fully assessed. Draft, review and manage sub-contracts and supply chain agreements in line with company standards and project requirements. Ensure timely certification of subcontractor payments and manage cost flow forecasts. Support monthly cost reporting and maintain accurate project financial records. Work collaboratively with project teams to minimise commercial risk and maximise value. Assist in resolving client and supply chain payment queries in conjunction with the accounts team. Ensure all commercial activities are in line with contractual and legal obligations. Requirements: Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline. 3 years’ experience in a QS role within a main contracting environment. Strong understanding of construction contracts, procurement, and cost control. Proven ability to manage multiple packages on high-value projects. Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
