Title: Quality Manager
Location: Woodale, IL
Supervises: Quality Engineers, Metrology Technicians, and Inspection Team
Department: Quality
Salary: $125-140K+ plus bonus
Purpose:
We are seeking a hands-on Quality Manager to lead and elevate our quality management system to world-class aerospace and defense standards. This role will build a culture of quality excellence, ensure compliance with AS9100, NADCAP, ITAR, and customer-specific requirements, and drive continuous improvement across all manufacturing operations.
The ideal candidate has extensive experience in aerospace and defense precision machining and can align quality initiatives with business goals while mentoring the next of quality professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Strategy
-
Develop and execute a strategic roadmap to achieve world-class quality standards.

Serve as management representative for AS9100 and other quality certifications.

Partner with senior leadership to align quality initiatives with customer satisfaction, profitability, and growth.
Quality Systems & Compliance
-
Maintain and improve compliance with AS9100, ISO 9001, NADCAP, and ITAR.

Oversee internal audit programs and manage external audits from registrars, customers, and regulatory bodies.

Ensure effective root cause analysis (RCA), corrective action (CAPA), and risk management processes.
Operational Excellence

Implement advanced quality tools: APQP, PPAP, FAI, SPC, PFMEA, MSA.

Drive process control and error-proofing across machining operations, including titanium, aluminum, stainless steel, cast iron, and high-alloy steels.

Establish and maintain metrics such as DPPM, cost of quality, scrap rate, and customer satisfaction scores.

Introduce digital tools for real-time quality monitoring.
Customer & Supplier Engagement

Serve as primary quality liaison with key aerospace and defense customers.

Elevate supplier quality management through standardized audits, performance tracking, and partnerships.
Team Development

Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing quality engineering and inspection team.

Foster a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and proactive problem-solving.
Required Skills & Experience:
-
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or related field (Master’s ).

10+ years progressive experience in aerospace/defense quality leadership.

Proven track record of achieving and sustaining AS9100/NADCAP certifications.

Strong experience in precision machining, CNC, milling, lathes, and machine shop operations.

Very strong experience with PPAP – Production Part Approval Process.

Expertise in GD&T – Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.

Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Six Sigma Black Belt, or Lean certification .

Exceptional leadership, communication, and change management skills.
