The Quality Manager provides technical expertise to develop and improve cast house manufacturing processes, process monitoring controls and improvements and leads and manages the quality management system.
Qualifications
- Minimum Undergraduate degree in engineering, related field, or equivalent experience; Undergraduate degree in engineering, related field, or equivalent experience
- Minimum 5 years manufacturing experience with at least 2 yrs of managing direct reports; subject matter expertise in process control and improvement techniques with a proven track record of driving improvements
- Six Sigma Green Belt/Six Sigma Black Belt
- Minimum 2-3 year’s previous experience with Aluminum DC casting or other metal processing operations
- 2-3 year experience managing technical projects /initiatives in a manufacturing environment
- Strong analytical skills with knowledge of statistical data analysis
- Good understanding of QMS, ISO, IATF 16949,
- Knowledge/Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma
- Strong skills in data acquisition, data analysis, writing reports
- Good communication and organizational skills, proven ability to work in teams and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, plan and implement process or product improvement projects in a manufacturing environment.
- Maintain QMS (quality management system) in accordance to IATF-16949 standards to ensure quality product and excellent standing and reputation with our automotive customers
- Identify and lead data driven process control and improvement projects utilizing continuous improvement methodologies including but not limited to Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma and Theory of Constraints according to industry standards to ensure opportunities to improve our processes and develop a lean, responsive and knowledgeable workforce
- Analyze key metrics for trends and identify process improvement opportunities according to company expectations to ensure Production and Maintenance teams make continuous improvement
- Oversee analytical areas including product chemical analysis laboratory (optical emission spectrometers) and the gaging calibration system according to industry standards to ensure quality product is delivered to external customers
- Develop the Technical Services team by leading and executing effective training strategies, fostering an environment where employees will willingly make extra effort to exceed goals and look for opportunities to improve our processes, according to company standards to ensure top notch performance and team centered interactions with other departments.
- Set an example, apply and provide accountability of all safety programs, participation in safety practices, LOTO programs and wearing of PPE according to company standards in order to facility a safe working environment. Communicate and provide compliance of all company strategic initiatives
Physical & Sensory Effort
Normal office environment approximately 50%-75% of the time; Low frequency lifting up to 50 lbs; physical demands include low frequency lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, walking and climbing over 4 feet . High frequency of visual and audio monitoring of processes. High frequency of visual monitoring of HMI panels and PLC driven panels. Frequent data entry of necessary information. Low frequency of travel to other company locations and for training.
Working Conditions
Normal office environment up to 50% - 75% of time. Could be exposed to outside conditions year round; Low frequent exposure to molten metal at temperatures reaching 1300 degrees F. Low frequent exposure to extreme ambient temperatures depending on the season. Low frequent exposure to overhead loads, loud noise and dust.
