Summary
The Quality Manager is a high-energy and results oriented position that is responsible for ensuring that the Quality Management System (QMS) is fully implemented and maintained in an organized and efficient manner. This person will evaluate and recommend all company workflow processes as it relates to efficiency gains, compliance with ISO procedure(s), utilization of ERP software tools, customer satisfaction, and improvement thereof. Must have proven experience in identifying complex problems, reviewing related data, evaluating options to implement quality driven solutions in a manufacturing environment. Responsibilities include managing the Quality Control (QC) Laboratory as well as the Quality Assurance (QA) Group.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Establish, implement, and oversee the training and document systems which includes, change control, training curriculum, annual training, records retention, quality review and approval. Research, investigate, and test new methods, technologies, equipment, and systems so that procedures, specifications and standards for raw materials, in-process, and finished products to remain best in class.
· Work with the quality compliance manager to promote, develop, and oversee the compliance of the quality system in the plant and highlight opportunities for improvements. (GMP, HACCP Program and GFSI when applicable)
· Indirect and direct oversight of all non-conformances such as customer complaints, investigations, deviations, out of trend out of alert, etc. Non-conformances are fully investigated, and remaining risk mitigated. Work closely with operations to identify potential quality issues before they arise and take preventive actions to prevent problem occurrence.
· Maintain the supplier quality assurance program. Communicate directly with suppliers for quality matters pertaining to compliance of standards for precision, capability, quality, and on-time delivery.
· Manage QA and QC personnel to assure daily activities and priorities are fully aligned and any barriers are properly addressed. Provide coaching, guidance, and development of direct and indirect reports, creating meaningful feedback discussion that support and enhance employee success.
· Develop relationships across the organization using a hands-on approach to drive a quality focused culture. Make appropriate recommendations internal and external to the organization-continuous improvement and problem resolution. Develop cross-functional teams to address and resolve quality issues and improve levels of quality and productivity.
· Actively lead internal and external quality audits to ensure compliance and continuous improvement. Follow up on defect trends and develop improvement plans.
· Assure the implementation and continuous operation of software applications to comply with current regulations.
Required Skills/Abilities:
· Advanced knowledge of Microsoft platform, including word and excel.
· High energy and results-oriented individual who is successful in a business environment and is skilled in motivating and inspiring people
· Ability to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
· Ability to develop the QMS, including, Quality Manual, Quality Objectives, and Strategies to meet customer requirements and continuous improvement.
· Clear and concise communicator.
Education and Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree, scientific discipline . Can be replaced with 10+ years of direct experience.
· 5+ years’ experience leading a quality team, preference to both QA and QC experience.
· ISO 9001 experience a plus
· Experience coaching, developing, and using key quality principles for troubleshooting and root cause analysis such as 5-whys, cause and effect, Pareto analysis and validating root cause to identify effective corrective actions and processes
· History of performing internal and external audits.
