Title: Quality Manager



Location: Warrington, Hybrid, 2 days on site



Duration: 12 months +



Inside IR35



Rate: £50.00 - £65.00 p/hr



Security Clearance Level: UK - Security Check (SC). Can start on BPSS.



Main Purpose:



Leading and managing quality across all aspects of the programme / project lifecycle covering both internal and external activities, including the management of the overall quality team.



As opposed to the Senior Quality / Quality Delivery Engineer roles, the Quality Delivery Lead role requires a more strategic way of working, a greater depth of experience and knowledge in more complex programme / project environments and the ability to lead and manage quality organisational structures.



Key Result Areas:



- Acting as a professional, influential and credible 'leader' of quality.

- Driving a strong quality culture with a 'right first time' approach.

- Operating as a 'subject matter advisor', advising on all aspects of quality, including risks and issues.

- Closely work with others to educate / support / mentor on quality matters e.g. Procurement, Engineering.

- Developing and maintaining excellent relationships and effective communication channels with customers (internal and external) and suppliers.

- Working in conjunction with the wider quality capability, the effective identification, deployment and utilisation of quality personnel.

- Effective leadership, management and utilisation of assigned quality personnel.

- Establishing an effective quality induction programme.

- Liaising with customers to understand their quality requirements / expectations.

- Participating in all relevant meetings and reviews both internally and externally.

- Providing man hour / cost estimates as part of the quality input to bids / tenders and when requested providing estimates to complete.

- Reviewing enquiry, tender and contract documentation with respect to customers quality requirements and contract specifications, identifying any specific requirements which fall outside of the business management system.

- Undertaking quality planning and identifying, implementing and maintaining all relevant quality documents, including as required, the writing of specific procedures / local working instructions.

- Reviewing of purchase orders / contracts for quality requirements input.

- Liaising with suppliers to ensure that the quality and specification requirements are understood.



- Ensuring supplier quality arrangements are reviewed and approved / accepted including customer approvals.

- Ongoing status monitoring of quality documents including those relating to suppliers e.g. quality plans.

- Monitoring the status of the quality arrangements, identifying and resolving areas of concern and where necessary escalating to Line Management.

- When required, conducting supplier assessments.

- Developing, implementing and maintaining a risk based audit programme covering both internally and externally activities (e.g. suppliers).

- Ensuring relevant systems / tools are kept up to date to enable the accurate and timely reporting of quality performance.

- Proactively leading the management and timely closure of quality findings (e.g. non conformances) and issues, including when required, conducting quality investigations.

- Supporting the preparation of quality performance data, highlighting issues, trends and making recommendations for improvement.

- Identifying and implementing relevant continual improvement plans / initiatives both internally and externally (e.g. customers, suppliers).

- Identifying and implementing learning from experience in the interest of continual improvement.

- As required, undertake specific activities on behalf of the overall Cavendish Nuclear Quality capability.



Knowledge:



- Good working knowledge of the Nuclear industry.

- Good working knowledge of all relevant regulations and legislation.

- Good working knowledge of the Customers quality requirements.

- Good working knowledge and application of ISO 9001.



Experience:



- Have a proven track record preferably gained within a similar role in the Nuclear or other highly regulated industry.

- Computer literate with experience in using software packages relevant to the role e.g. word, excel, outlook, internet, etc.

- Continually seeks to improve working practice, performance and productivity.

- Actively promotes health and safety.

- Ensures that procedures are consistently applied across projects.



Other:



- Ideally be qualified to a HNC or equivalent in a relevant subject e.g. engineering.

- ISO 9001 lead or internal Auditor trained.

- Willing to travel to locations / sites throughout the UK and occasionally overseas.

- A full member (or working towards this) of the Chartered Quality Institute
