Reports to: Director of Operations

Your mandate

  • Own in-process quality across formulated lab, mechanical, shipping, and manufacturing areas.
  • Stand up and mature the lab: validated methods, calibrated instruments, standardized data collection, trained technicians.
  • Lock in process fundamentals and stabilize performance across shifts using SPC and clear CTQ controls.
  • Resolve discrepancies fast: lead investigations for issues flagged by Supplier Quality; implement durable corrective actions with Production.
  • Deploy the Amaco and Brent Quality System: TWI-based test protocols, training matrices, and disciplined adherence to procedures.
  • Drive CI via audits, Kaizen events, A3 problem solving, and concise reporting during Gemba walks and virtual reviews.
  • Lead the team: set goals, manage schedules, conduct reviews, mentor on quality and ceramics, address issues, monitor scrap and inventory accuracy, and champion safety audits.

  • Lower in-process defects, scrap, and related customer complaints.
  • Reliable execution of CTQ specs with timely discrepancy closure.
  • Process stability and cross-shift consistency you can measure.

Qualifications

  • BS in Ceramics, Engineering, Materials Science, Industrial Technology, or equivalent; Associate’s with substantial experience considered.
  • 5–7+ years in quality leadership, preferably overseeing lab operations.
  • Proven builder of Quality Systems and written quality standards; skilled at turning attribute criteria into numeric tolerances.
  • Knowledge of ceramic chemistry, materials testing, and mechanical processes; experience launching/stabilizing a quality lab.
  • ISO 9001, SPC, DMAIC, A3, 5-Why; Lean/Six Sigma (Green Belt ); Minitab.
  • ERP/QMS familiarity (NAV, Business Central or SAP); excellent documentation and communication.
  • Strength in SOPs, Manufacturing Instructions (MI), Kaizen, and people leadership.

Work conditions

  • Full-time, Monday–Friday, 40+ hours with occasional evenings/weekends as needed.
  • Up to 20% travel.
  • Extended standing; frequent lifting/moving up to 50+ pounds; hot and cold environments.
  • Physical demands include regular talking/hearing; frequent standing, walking, hand use, and reaching; occasional sitting, climbing/balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling; vision requirements include close, distance, , peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
