Position Summary
The Supplier Quality Inspector ensures that all incoming components, subassemblies, and raw materials from Revology Cars' supplier network meet stringent quality standards. This role is essential to protecting product integrity and maintaining the craftsmanship that defines our classic Mustang reproductions. The Supplier Quality Inspector will focus on critical areas including trim, chassis, driveline, suspension, electrical systems, and interior components to guarantee parts are delivered to specification before release to production.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect incoming supplier parts, subassemblies, and raw materials against engineering drawings, GD&T, and Revology Cars' specifications.
- Verify conformance of high-visibility components such as exterior trim, interior upholstery, chrome finishes, glass, and paint-coated parts.
- Perform dimensional checks on chassis, driveline, and suspension components to ensure alignment with tolerances.
- Test electrical and electronic components (harnesses, switches, gauges, lighting) for functionality and compliance.
- Validate supplier-provided documentation such as certificates of conformance, material certifications, and test results.
- Record and report nonconformances in quality management systems, including detailed root cause notes and supplier feedback.
- Support supplier corrective actions, ensuring timely closure and verification of effectiveness.
- Collaborate with Engineering and Production teams to identify recurring supplier issues and develop prevention strategies.
- Participate in supplier evaluations and audits, providing input on quality performance.
- Maintain accurate inspection logs, photos, and traceability records for all incoming lots.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or associate degree in a related field .
- 3+ years of experience in quality inspection, ideally in automotive, aerospace, or precision manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, CMM, gauges, surface testers).
- Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and GD&T.
- Familiarity with automotive systems including driveline, suspension, electrical, and body trim.
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and/or IATF 16949 standards.
- Strong documentation and reporting skills with attention to detail.
Skills
- Experience with supplier quality management and incoming inspection processes.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma problem-solving tools (5-Why, Fishbone, FMEA).
- Proficiency with ERP systems for inspection tracking (experience with [insert your ERP/MRP system] ).
- Hands-on automotive or restoration experience a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Comfortable working around automotive parts, assemblies, and workshop/warehouse environments.
