Job Title: Quality Inspector
Shift: MUST be able to work 2nd Shift, M-F 4pm-12am + occasional weekends but this role will require flexibility to work across all 3 shifts, as needed.
1. What are the day-to-day responsibilities for this position?
- This position involves performing routine quality checks on tubing extrusion lines throughout the shift. The employee will collect tubing samples from each line and measure them using a video microscope, which has measurement software.
- If everything is within specification, they can give the “ok” to start an Extrusion line. They will also check other details at the extrusion lines, such as confirming the correct boxes, materials, and brand are being used. They will also inspect the tubing to ensure it meets visual standards (e.g., no burns, scratches, or other defects).
- All the tubing specifications are listed on manufacturing work orders that this person will have access to at each line. Also, each time an extrusion line completes a run or starts a new run, the employee will repeat all these checks. These inspections will make up the majority of the workday and the majority of the responsibilities of this role. We are hoping to get a few months of training prior to this person being on their own during this shift.
2. Will the inspector be performing visual inspections, dimensional checks, documentation reviews, or all of the above?
- The majority of the position will be visual inspections on brand accuracy, clarity, , and no imperfections. They will be doing dimensional checks at the scope. I agree, they won’t be reviewing/approving standard operating procedures, but they will have documents that list specifications for a tube, and they will need to make sure this tube meets those specifications.
3. What specific experience would stand out? (e.g., prior quality inspection, manufacturing environment, ISO standards)?
- Prior quality inspection would absolutely stand out. Working in a regulated environment (ISO) will be a big help.
4. Are there any specific years of experience required?
- Not necessarily, but the more experience, the better.
