Job Description

As a Quality Inspector, you will be responsible for performing visual quality checks on the production floor to ensure precision and accuracy in steel manufacturing. You will utilize micrometers, calipers, and tape measures to verify product accuracy against blueprints, and provide feedback on production adjustments. Your role is crucial in maintaining high standards of quality in the manufacturing process.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct visual quality checks on steel products on the production floor.
  • Utilize micrometers, calipers, and tape measures to verify product accuracy against blueprints.
  • Provide feedback on production inaccuracies and suggest necessary adjustments.
  • Work with steel materials, including those up to 1,000th of an inch in thickness.
  • Apply welding and welding quality knowledge in the inspection process.

Essential Skills

  • Experience in steel manufacturing and heavy industrial environments.
  • Proficiency in using tape measures, micrometers, and calipers.
  • Strong experience in quality inspection, particularly in heavy industrial manufacturing.
  • Computer literacy.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with Non-Destructive Testing (NDT).
  • Welding inspection knowledge.

Work Environment

This role is based in a large production steel fabrication shop equipped with CNC machines and weld booths, located in a historic building. The work environment varies with the seasons, getting hot in the summer and cold in the winter. Safety is a priority, requiring steel toe boots and weld gear. The company supplies products to major clients and has secured a long-term contract for high-speed train projects, ensuring a stable workload for years to come.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Harvey, Illinois.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $27.00/hr.
