Project Quality Control Engineer\nLocation: North West UK (Site / Hybrid)\nSector: Nuclear / Highly Regulated Industries\n\nOverview\n\nAn opportunity has arisen for an experienced Project Quality Control Engineer to support the delivery of complex engineering projects within a highly regulated environment. The role focuses on providing independent quality input across project lifecycles, ensuring compliance with customer specifications, regulatory requirements, and internal quality standards.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nReview enquiry, tender, and contract documentation in line with customer quality requirements\nLiaise with internal stakeholders and clients to define inspection and quality expectations\nSupport engineering teams to ensure design deliverables incorporate quality control requirements\nReview and approve supplier quality documentation (e.g. QCPs, WPS, NDT procedures)\nAttend supplier kick-off meetings to communicate project quality expectations\nDevelop and assign inspection scopes for Quality Inspectors\nPlan and execute inspection activities, including:\n\nRisk assessments prior to inspection\nEquipment inspections\nWitnessing NDT, FATs, and functional testing\n\nReview and endorse project documentation (e.g.
NDT reports, weld records, EC&I test packs)\nManage inspection reporting and ensure timely completion\nReview Life Time Records (LTRs) and final documentation dossiers\nSupport final release of equipment\nProvide advice on quality risks and support issue resolution\nParticipate in project and handover meetings\nSupport supplier assessments and audits\nManage and close out non-conformances\nContribute to project quality planning and documentation\nEnsure compliance with internal quality management systems and procedures\n\nExperience & Background\n\nExperience within nuclear, oil & gas, or other highly regulated industries\nStrong background in:\n\nFabrication and welding processes\nNDT techniques\nMechanical inspection\nElectrical and instrumentation systems\n\nExperience with Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) and Quality Control Plans (QCPs)\nFamiliarity with manufacturing, assembly, and testing of engineered systems\nExperience reviewing material certification and technical documentation\n\nKnowledge & Qualifications\n\nGood understanding of ISO 9001 and quality management systems\nKnowledge of industry regulations and standards\nHNC (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline ()\nWelding inspection qualification such as CSWIP 3.1 or PCN Level 2 (WI)\nAuditor training (desirable)\n\nSkills & Attributes\n\nStrong communication and stakeholder engagement skills\nProactive and solutions-focused approach\nAbility to work independently and within project teams\nHigh attention to detail and reporting accuracy\nCustomer-focused mindset\nCommitment to health, safety, and continuous improvement
