Location: Hampshire\nSalary: Competitive + Benefits\nJob Type: Permanent | Full-Time\n\nShorterm Group is currently recruiting for an experienced Precision Quality Engineer to join a high‑performing precision engineering manufacturer operating to world‑class quality standards. This is an excellent opportunity for a quality professional with a strong background in high‑accuracy CNC manufacturing to play a key role in maintaining and improving robust quality systems.\n\nWorking within a micron‑level precision environment, you will ensure components meet exacting customer, regulatory, and industry standards including ISO 9001:2015 and AS9100. You will be heavily involved in inspection planning, non‑conformance management, root cause analysis, and driving controlled process improvements in collaboration with production.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n- Develop and maintain quality control plans, inspection strategies, and work instructions\n- Perform and oversee first article, in‑process, and final inspection using advanced metrology equipment\n- Lead and organise Measurement System Analysis (MSA), including Gauge R&R studies\n- Investigate defects and manage non‑conformances (NCRs) using 8D, 5 Whys, and CAPA methodologies\n- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce scrap, improve yield, and enhance process capability\n- Conduct supplier quality activities, including audits and material compliance reviews\n- Collaborate closely with production teams to support controlled process changes\nPromote and maintain world‑class quality standards across the manufacturing environment\n\nSkills, Experience & Qualifications\nEssential:\n- HNC/HND/Degree in Engineering (or equivalent experience)\n- Proven experience in a high‑precision CNC manufacturing quality environment\n- Strong understanding of GD&T and the ability to interpret complex engineering drawings\n- Hands‑on experience with CMMs, measurement arms (scan & probe), and advanced metrology equipment\n- Competence in MSA, SPC, capability studies, and quality data analysis\n- Strong problem‑solving, analytical, and communication skills\n\nDesirable:\n- ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE)\n- Experience with Lean / Six Sigma tools\n- Proficiency with inspection and CAD/CAM software such as PolyWorks, PowerInspect, PC‑DMIS, or similar\n- Familiarity with ERP / MRP systems for manufacturing and quality data analysis\n\nAdditional Attributes\n- High level of IT literacy (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)\n- Passionate, resilient, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment\n- Strong attention to detail and commitment to 5S and housekeeping standards\n- Positive, team‑focused approach with the ability to coach and mentor others\n- Confident communicator at all levels, capable of translating complex technical data clearly\n- Actively supports KPI achievement across Quality, Cost, and Delivery\n\n Interested?\nApply now or contact Shorterm Group for a confidential discussion about this Precision Quality Engineer opportunity
