Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Quality Engineer to support our Department of Defense (DoD) military systems programs. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in quality assurance within defense, aerospace, or other regulated engineering environments. This role ensures that products meet all contractual, regulatory, and military standards throughout the development, production, and sustainment lifecycle.
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, or related technical field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in quality engineering within DoD, aerospace, or defense manufacturing environments.
• Familiarity with MIL-STD requirements, defense contracting processes, and government quality assurance standards.
• Experience with AS9100 and ISO 9001 QMS frameworks.
• Knowledge of root cause and corrective action methods (e.g., 8D, 5-Why, Ishikawa).
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical data packages.
• Strong communication skills and ability to interface with government representatives.
• U.S. citizenship required due to government contract requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop, implement, and maintain Quality Management System (QMS) processes in accordance with AS9100, ISO 9001, and applicable DoD standards.
• Support quality planning, inspections, audits, and process validations for military system components and hardware.
• Interpret and ensure compliance with technical data packages, military specifications (MIL-STDs), and contract requirements.
• Conduct root cause analysis (RCA), corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Interface with DoD customers, government representatives, and internal engineering teams during reviews, audits, and acceptance activities.
• Perform data analysis on quality metrics, nonconformances, and supplier performance to identify trends and recommend improvements.
• Support First Article Inspections (FAI) in accordance with AS9102.
• Collaborate with engineering to ensure design for manufacturability and quality (DFM/DFQ).
• Oversee supplier quality activities and ensure supplier compliance with military and program requirements.
• Prepare and maintain documentation, reports, risk assessments, and audit findings.
Qualifications:
• Active DoD security clearance.
• Experience with DFAR, DCMA processes, or defense program audits.
• Supplier quality engineering experience.
• Proficiency with quality tools such as Minitab, statistical process control (SPC), and risk analysis (FMEA).
• Lean Six Sigma certification (Green or Black Belt).
