JOB SUMMARY
A Quality Engineer III is a senior-level quality leader responsible for managing the most complex and high-visibility quality assurance projects across aerospace, nuclear, energy, and other contract machining applications. This role requires independent decision-making, strong technical expertise, and cross-functional leadership. Quality Engineer IIIs are champions of quality within the organization, mentoring team members and leading internal initiatives that drive continuous improvement in product and process.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Leads quality activities for high-profile customers and parts, ensuring compliance with all internal and external standards.
- Serves as the primary quality liaison during new customer onboarding and project launches.
- Provides guidance and informal mentorship to other Quality Engineers and staff across the organization.
- Owns RCCA (Root Cause and Corrective Action) processes for complex issues and ensures timely, effective resolution.
- Oversees and improves internal quality systems, including process documentation, audit readiness, and QMS compliance.
- Drives continuous improvement projects on quality performance, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
- Actively supports customer audits and regulatory reviews as a subject matter expert for assigned accounts.
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams to drive accountability, solve problems, and reinforce a culture of quality excellence.
- Acts as a resource and advocate for internal teams seeking to improve quality practices or resolve escalated concerns.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Proven ability to manage complex quality projects with minimal supervision.
- Advanced knowledge of AS9100, ISO 9001, PPAP, FAIRs, and other relevant standards.
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and quality documentation practices.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of experience in a quality or engineering role, ideally within contract machining or high-spec industries.
- Completion of internal Dimensional Inspector program (GD&T, blueprint reading, precision hand tools, math).
- Experience supporting or leading customer audits and major quality initiatives.
- Demonstrated history of leading or influencing cross-functional improvement projects.
