We’re supporting a leading defence and aerospace organisation in their search for a contract Quality Engineer to join their team in Fife. You’ll be part of a collaborative and driven group, ensuring quality standards are met across complex, high-profile programmes.
This is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact by supporting first article inspections, maintaining compliance records, and playing a key role in continuous improvement initiatives.
Please note that this role is a 6-month fixed-term contract.
What you’ll be doing:
- Performing First Article Inspections (FAIRs), ideally to AS9102 standards.
- Supporting quality investigations and root cause analysis to maintain product integrity.
- Managing and maintaining quality records using digital systems.
- Supporting audits, including internal process reviews and external accreditation checks.
- Working closely with programme and functional teams to uphold contractual and regulatory quality standards.
- Driving the timely resolution of non-conformances and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
What you’ll bring:
- Experience with FAIRs and a solid understanding of AS9102 documentation.
- Background in quality engineering within an electronics or mechanical assembly environment.
- Working knowledge of AS9100 and ISO9001 standards.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
- Confident communicator who can build strong working relationships across teams.
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with the confidence to challenge when needed.
It would be great if you also have:
- Interest or background in the aerospace or defence sectors.
- Experience navigating quality challenges in fast-paced programme environments.
- A degree in a relevant field or equivalent hands-on experience.
