Job purpose

Responsibilities include identifying quality improvement opportunities and implementing controls and methods to realize gains in process control and performance in our gravure coating and converting operations.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Develop metrics and tracking systems for plant optimization focusing on yields and quality performance.
  • Improve production yields through process/equipment optimization
  • Analyze plant performance and work with Operations to ensure optimal performance and continual improvement for quality.
  • Develop standard operating procedures and work instructions and train operations on process execution and troubleshooting response.
  • Manage and maintain Document Control Process.
  • Work with Product Development and Operational Engineering to establish qualification requirements and evaluation standards for new products, suppliers, and machinery.
  • Conduct tests and evaluations and manage testing and evaluation schedules to ensure target dates are met.
  • Develop FMEA and Control Plans to identify critical control points and establish standards for acceptance sampling and product release.
  • Lead root cause investigation and analysis for quality defects resulting from coating and converting processes and assist in the development of corrective/preventive action plans and follow up activities.
  • Develop and manage audit systems for process controls and supplier capabilities.
  • Manage Gage calibration system
  • Identify and define training programs, including conducting needs analysis, development of curricula and materials, and determination of effectiveness.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree in an Engineering.
  • 2 years of experience in a Quality Engineer role.
  • Strong knowledge in the use and application of statistical and analytical tools.
  • Must have the ability to interface and communicate effectively, write legibly and read/comprehend sufficiently to perform the duties required.
  • Must be able to work in close proximity with organic solvents and able to wear air-purifying respiratory protection equipment, as needed.
  • Must have adequate vision to inspect product for small defects and take appropriate corrective actions.
  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks at one time and prioritize appropriately.
  • Perform all duties in a safe and efficient manner.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This role has no supervisory responsibilities.

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to sit/stand for 8 hours
  • The ability to use arms/hands/fingers to feel and reach
  • Be able to bend/stoop/kneel as needed
  • Must be able to hear and talk to communicate with internal/external customers
  • Must be able to push/pull/ lift at least 45 lbs. individually and 50 lbs. with the help of a team member.
  • Ability to work in an office setting, and spend primary working hours at a desk using a computer and other office equipment such as printers, copiers, postage machines, etc.

Safety Requirements

Ability to wear required PPE if in any manufacturing area.

The hiring range for this position is $80,000 to $100,000 per year. This range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on the candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications.
