Education
A high school diploma is required with experience in quality. Associate degree or bachelor’s degree in engineering but not required.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- 2-5 years of experience in quality control in a manufacturing environment. Knowledge in metal stampings, forming, and welding is a plus
- Ability to read and understand drawing specifications, customer, and regulatory requirements. Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) is a plus
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision while overseeing 2-3 inspectors within the department
- Experience using as well as supervising the use of measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, height gages, tape measure, and scales
- Ability to oversee that first articles and PPAP’s, work in-process, as well as final inspections are in compliance with customer specifications
- Ability to accurately and neatly complete required paperwork pertaining to customer PSW’s, PPAP submittals and quality requirements
- Ability to oversee the evaluation of incoming material according to specifications
- Must have good organizational skills and a strong attention to detail
- Knowledge of basic computer skills including excel, word, power point, etc.
- Quality Planning and Standards: Establishing and/or maintaining quality assurance (QA) procedures, standards, and metrics, such as ISO 9001
- Process Improvement: Utilizing techniques like statistical process control (SPC), Six Sigma, and lean manufacturing to identify and remove causes of defects.
- Overseeing auditing and compliance: both internal and external
- Root Cause Analysis: analyzing failures, identifying the root cause of issues, and implementing corrective and preventative actions (CAPA).
- Documentation: maintaining detailed documentation, including inspection reports and quality procedures as well as other typical quality engineering functions as needed.
