Join a global manufacturer delivering high-reliability engineered products for critical industries. Our client is an established international manufacturer specialising in highly engineered electrical and interconnect products used across Oil & Gas, industrial energy and data centre power/network infrastructure.
As part of continued growth within their US manufacturing operation, they are seeking an experienced Quality Engineer to join their team in Houston, Texas. This is a hands-on position offering exposure across manufacturing quality, supplier quality, new product introduction and continuous improvement.
About the Role
The Quality Engineer will work closely with Production, Engineering, Supply Chain and Customer Service teams to ensure cable assemblies, wire harnesses and electrical connector systems consistently meet customer, regulatory and internal quality requirements.
You will provide direct support on the manufacturing floor, investigate quality issues, lead corrective actions and help strengthen manufacturing processes and supplier performance.
Key Responsibilities
· Provide hands-on quality engineering support for cable assemblies, wire harnesses and electrical connector systems.
· Support manufacturing processes including soldering, crimping, overmoulding, shielding, potting, high-amp terminations and high-density cabling.
· Support First Article Inspections, PPAP documentation, qualification testing, validation builds and audits.
· Investigate internal rejects, supplier non-conformances, customer complaints and field failures.
· Analyse quality trends and manufacturing performance to identify opportunities to reduce defects and improve reliability.
· Support New Product Introductions (NPI) and manufacturing process improvements.
· Monitor and improve supplier quality performance across electrical and electromechanical components.
Qualifications & Experience
· Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering or a related discipline; equivalent technical experience may also be considered.
· 3+ years' Quality Engineering experience within cable assembly, wire harness, electrical connector or electromechanical manufacturing.
· Strong working knowledge of IPC-A-620 / WHMA-A-620.
· Experience with FMEA, PPAP, SPC, MSA, 8D and structured root-cause analysis.
· Experience supporting Oil & Gas, industrial energy or data centre infrastructure products highly advantageous.
· Knowledge of UL, ATEX, IECEx, REACH, RoHS and Conflict Minerals requirements beneficial.
· ASQ CQE, Six Sigma Green Belt or similar certification advantageous.
