SYSTEM TITLE: Quality Engineer
DEPARTMENT: 000225 – Inspection

JOB SUMMARY

The Quality Engineer is responsible for the administration of manufacturing processes that support the development and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives. The Quality Engineer strengthens product reliability and increases efficiency by working to develop quality procedures that prevent failures and increase production output of conforming parts while ensuring compliance with customer requirements and regulatory standards.

The Quality Engineer reports directly to the Quality Assurance Manager

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED FOR POSITION

Education, Training, and/or Experience

  • U.S. or Permanent Resident
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, or related field
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in a Quality role in the manufacturing industry
  • Experience in Composite Manufacturing, Aerospace
  • Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) tools and methods
  • Ability to interpret engineering documents (e.g., technical drawings, specifications)
  • Certification in Lean Six Sigma

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Regularly required to sit for extended periods of time
  • Frequently required to use eye‐hand coordination, repetitive hand movements and manual dexterity
  • Occasionally required to stand and walk for extended periods of time
  • Occasionally bend, reach to shoulder level and lift, carrying, twisting, pushing and/or pulling up to 50 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus
  • Hearing level within normal/average range
  • Ability to work in machining, production, and clean room environments which may include noise exposure and the requirement of utilizing personal protective equipment (provided by employer)

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with ERP and MRP Systems (Visual V5 )
  • Proven ability to manage projects and use KPIs/metrics to drive improvement

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Oversee inspection and testing activities to verify product conformance to specifications and requirements
  • Evaluate manufacturing processes to identify quality improvement opportunities and implement data-driven solutions
  • Develop and maintain quality control procedures and inspection protocols to support manufacturing operations
  • Provide training and guidance to team members on quality standards, procedures, and inspection methods
  • Analyze defects and investigate part nonconformances
  • Perform root cause analyses (RCA) and develop respective corrective actions
  • Audit Quality systems and processes for effectiveness
  • Create inspection plans for new parts, materials, and processes
  • Resolve quality issues and enhance process reliability
  • Prepare and present reports on quality performance metrics, trends, and audit findings
  • Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to rectify quality issues and improve production operations
  • Engage in internal and external regulatory audits (e.g., AS9100, Nadcap)
  • Correspond with customers and suppliers as necessary
  • Other duties or special projects as assigned
