- Key understanding of Quality Management Systems and Core Tools
Effective verbal, written, presentation and relationship building skills needed.
Position Summary: The Quality Engineer (QE) will collaborate with all departments in developing new products to meet customer and TS-16949 requirements, covering all quality aspects of PPAP, prototypes, and ongoing product development.
Required Skills/Experience:
- Post-secondary degree in Quality Engineering, a technical field, or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum 5 years in an automotive manufacturing environment, with expertise in welding and assembly.
- Proficiency in computer applications and CAD.
- Experience with TS-16949 procedures, APQP, PPAP submissions, GD&T, Flow Diagrams, FMEA, Control Plans, Statistics, Fixture Development, and working with tooling subcontractors.
- Strong skills in basic measurement tools (height gauge, micrometer, etc.).
- Proven experience in root cause analysis using methods like 8D, 5 Phase, and Drill Deep.
- Advanced knowledge of ISO9001:2015 / IATF16949:2016, customer requirements, and B.I.W. part-to-part assembly.
- Familiarity with destruct testing, measurement, and metrology inspection methods.
- Expertise in CMM and scan reporting.
- Basic knowledge of stamping for B.I.W. components.
- Supplier management experience.
- Familiarity with Quality systems like QSB+ and BIQS.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to coordinate cross-functional teams and mentor colleagues.
- Willingness to travel and work overtime as needed.
Duties:
- Champion and resolve quality issues within scope.
- Understand customer product and engineering specifications.
- Lead program launch activities from the quality perspective.
- Train and mentor quality and production personnel.
- Contribute to continuous improvement and cost reduction.
- Collaborate with MSC personnel on APQP and new component development to meet deadlines.
- Implement new procedures and processes in prototype product launches.
- Manage program fixture builds, ensuring cost, timing, and quality standards.
- Actively contribute to PFMEA development and maintenance.
- Review problem reports, ensuring resolutions prevent recurrence.
- Evaluate dimensional issues, develop countermeasures with project coordinators and customers.
- Serve as a liaison between customers, QA, engineering, manufacturing, and subcontractors.
- Plan and prepare PPAP submissions to meet deadlines and customer requirements.
- Safeguard customer-sensitive documents and data.
- Maintain Q.A. Control Plan documentation pre-launch and during production.
- Utilize problem-solving techniques, CAD, statistics, and GD&T to address quality issues.
- Support TS-16949 and ISO14000 implementation and compliance.
- Perform statistical studies and report data as required.
- Ensure adherence to safety programs and company policies.
