Food Safety Quality Manager – 1st Shift

Location: Monticello, WI

Pay: Up to $130,000 per year

Job Type: Full-time | On-site


A leading food manufacturer specializing in Hispanic food products is seeking a Food Safety Quality (FSQ) Manager to join our plant leadership team in Monticello, WI. We are a trusted name in the industry and one of the largest private-label producers of Hispanic cheese in the United States.

This role is a critical member of the leadership team and is responsible for ensuring the highest standards of food safety and quality are upheld in compliance with company policies, customer expectations, and regulatory requirements.


What You’ll Do:

  • Lead and develop a team of FSQ professionals through effective training, scheduling, coaching, and performance evaluation
  • Partner with operations to create a strong food safety culture across the plant
  • Drive implementation and oversight of HACCP, FSMA, EMP, traceability, and recall programs
  • Conduct mock recalls and quarterly facility inspections
  • Serve as the primary contact for regulatory and customer audits (SQF, USDA, FDA, 3rd-party)
  • Manage analytical and microbiological testing programs, raw material inspection, and sanitation processes
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective action initiatives
  • Maintain compliance documentation and collaborate with purchasing to ensure safe ingredient sourcing
  • Oversee department budget and eliminate wasteful practices

What You Bring:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, Engineering, or a related field
  • 10+ years of leadership experience in food manufacturing FSQ
  • Strong knowledge of GMPs, HACCP, FSMA, SSOPs, Food Safety Plans
  • Experience managing audits and regulatory inspections
  • SQF Practitioner Certification or willingness to obtain

  • Experience in cheese manufacturing
  • Continuous Improvement or Six Sigma training
  • PQCA-SQF or FSVP certification

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication across all organizational levels
  • Confident leadership with a collaborative and results-driven approach
  • Proficient in policy and procedure writing, technical documentation, and compliance reporting

Work Environment:

  • Combination of office and production floor (wet, warm, loud conditions)
  • Frequent walking, standing, and talking; occasional bending or stooping
