Job Title: Quality Control Manager

Location: Glasgow, MO

About the Position

Develop, maintain, and lead all aspects of quality Management/Control within our facility to ensure fabricated products are compliant with Certification(s), Customer Standards, and Contract Requirements.

Immediate Supervisor: General Manager

Responsibilities

  • Welding: Develop, review, test, teach, train, and certify trade staff and program requirements for:
    • Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS)
    • Procedure Qualification Records (PQR)
    • Welder and Qualification Test Records (WQTR)
    • Maintain welder continuity logs
    • Ensure welding machine calibration
  • Certifications: Manage and maintain current and future certifications and audit compliance to their standards including but not limited to:
    • American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) Fabrication (future erection)
    • American Welding Society (AWS D1.1, D1.5)
    • Internal Quality Documents and Customer supplied quality requirements
  • Non-Conformance: Maintain a system that identifies and tracks the cost of quality non-compliance, rework, or poor quality as related to Engineering/Drawings, Labor, Material, Coating, Subcontractors, Equipment, Transportation, Delays, and Policy issues.
  • Leadership & Communication:
    • Reinforce a positive supporting quality culture with emphasis on shared knowledge.
    • Work with and effectively communicate with all stakeholders, vendors, customers, and subcontractors.
    • Establish and champion the Quality Policy and Quality Steering Team while leading quality through the organization.
    • Provide timely and accurate communication regarding Quality Policy Updates, Audits, and compliance issues to the senior management team.
  • Planning & Strategy:
    • Create, implement, and review a Quality Improvement Plan annually that addresses specific functional areas, company systems, and "people" development.
    • Recommend annual Quality budget and manage approved allocation.
    • Propose recommendations regarding quality headcount, contract employees, and supporting staff.
  • Operations:
    • Identify, qualify, and negotiate third-party inspection rates to support project needs.
    • Develop and maintain a master list of qualified third-party inspection services.
    • Audit vendor scoring matrix annually for quality compliance.
    • Maintain a calibration system for measuring tools.
    • Review backlog reports for new project quality requirements.


Certifications / Licenses (Required):

  • Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)
  • Certified Welding Educator (CWE)
  • ASNTC-1A Level Two Non-Destructive Testing Certification:
    • Penetrant Testing (PT)
    • Ultrasonic Weld Testing (UT)
    • Radiographic Interpretation (RT)
  • Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE) Level 1

Education / Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline with five (5) years of hands-on experience in a quality control/management role.
  • Other candidates will be considered based on overall experience.

Other Skills:

  • Ability to communicate professionally in verbal and written form.
  • Proficient in MS Office Software.
  • Familiarity with Tekla MRP.
  • Proficient math skills in support of Quality duties.

Work Environment

  • On-premise in manufacturing plant/office environment.
  • Site visits for active projects (approximately 10% travel).
