Job Summary:

The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for ensuring that all incoming products meet company quality and food safety standards. This role requires close collaboration with suppliers, internal teams, and management to identify, report, and resolve quality issues. The specialist will oversee product evaluations, inventory management, and shipping/receiving operations while supporting the company’s food safety program. The Quality Control Inspector will oversee distribution center procedures and compliance with third party audits, provide feedback to domestic and international growers, and entering & reviewing data and reports.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform thorough quality inspections on all incoming products to ensure compliance with established standards.
  • Immediately notify management of any deviations from quality specifications or potential food safety concerns.
  • Document and communicate inspection results to the appropriate supplier group.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to address and resolve quality-related issues.
  • Conduct evaluations of new product varieties, packaging materials, and shelf-life performance.
  • Manage cooler inventory and monitor product condition to maintain quality and freshness.
  • Oversee shipping and receiving processes to ensure accuracy and adherence to company standards.
  • Provide cross-training and support for the company’s food safety program.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support departmental and organizational objectives.

Requirements:

Required Skills / Abilities:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Degree in Food Science, Quality Assurance, or related field .
  • Minimum of 1–3 years of experience in quality control, food safety, or related role (produce or food industry experience ).
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations, quality assurance practices, and inventory management.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify non-conformance issues.
  • Effective communication skills for interacting with suppliers, management, and internal teams.
  • Proficiency with basic computer applications (Microsoft Office, inventory systems, quality tracking tools).
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate
  • Written and oral communication in both Spanish and English ()

Physical Abilities:

  • Extended Computer Use: The role requires prolonged periods of computer use, including typing, data analysis, and report .
  • Standing and Walking: Frequent standing and walking may be necessary, especially during operation shifts in warehouse, suppliers/customer facilities, meetings, presentations, or visits to other locations.
  • Occasionally required to travel domestically and internationally to attend meetings, conferences, and other business-related events.
  • Lifting and Carrying: While not typically a primary responsibility, the role may occasionally involve lifting or carrying lightweight objects.
  • Manual Dexterity: Frequently required to use hands to type, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Visual Requirements: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex statistical data, databases, financial data and information on a computer screen and in printed materials.
  • Communication: Regularly required to communicate with others to exchange information effectively by email, both in person and via telephone or video conferencing
  • Stress Management: The ability to manage stress effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment is important for success in the role.
  • Adaptability: Flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities, deadlines, and business needs are necessary.
  • Professional Appearance: Maintaining a professional appearance is important, especially when representing the company at external events or meetings.
