JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for reviewing all products and materials during manufacturing to make sure they meet company requirements. Their duties include measuring objects compared to their intended physical specifications, running quality tests and identifying defects. Maintain ISO records, material approved certifications, shop measurement check sheets, perform quality audits periodically and maintain quality documents up to date. Perform gage R&Rs, support root cause analysis and validate corrective actions. Maintain an up-to-date quality issue list for everyday review.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILIITIES:
- Select output samples, incoming products and check them using appropriate methods (measuring dimensions, testing functionality, comparing specifications, etc.).
- Participate in ISO audits, internal audits and maintain records.
- Compile and maintain up to date records on addressing internal and external quality issues. Keep track of corrective actions implementation and feedback from customers.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings/blueprints for the purpose of assisting operators, verifying conformance (dimensions, welds, chrome thickness, etc.), and to understand the quality expectations of manufactured components.
- Maintain records of testing, information, and various metrics, such as number of defective products per day, etc.
- Participate and train new operators to check and inspect components.
- Inspect procedures of the entire production cycle to ensure they are efficient and comply with safety standards.
- Recommend any necessary adjustments and changes to production processes.
- Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, meetings, workshops, etc.
- Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
- Must be willing to learn new skills, testing new measuring equipment or testers
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have two- or three-year degree or equivalent.
- Three (3) years of experience working in a machine shop.
- Proficient in the use of machine shop measuring tools (OD/ID Micrometers, calipers, surface gauges, thread gauges, etc.).
- Previous experience or basic understanding of hydraulic components, .
- Basic understanding of welding processes with the knowledge of how to read symbols in order to very conformance of completed welds.
- Familiarity with power tools and machinery (lathe, mill, hone, etc.).
- Performs work under minimal supervision.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
- Proven ability to meet deadlines and follow directions.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job duties consistent with ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 lbs.
- Frequent walking and/or standing is required.
- Frequent bending, pushing/pulling, lifting/carrying of parts.
- Ability to work safely and adhere to the Swanson Safety System in daily job duties.
