Position PurposeThe Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for overseeing day-to-day quality operations in a manufacturing environment. This includes managing quality control procedures, supporting plant operations, and serving as a liaison among quality, production, and sales teams. The role also involves developing product specifications in collaboration with customers and leading the continuous improvement of the organization’s quality systems and related personnel training.Essential Functions
- Quality Management Systems:
Lead and maintain certifications for ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and ISO 17025. Serve as the Management Representative for these systems. - Quality Assurance Practices:
Develop, implement, and maintain quality control procedures to ensure compliance for finished products. - Corrective Action & Investigations:
Assist with claim investigations and implement corrective actions using ISO/IATF methodologies. - Employee Training:
Design and deliver quality training programs. Maintain training records and support ongoing education in quality standards and systems. - Standards Compliance:
Stay current with changes to ISO/IATF standards and ensure the organization remains compliant. - Performance Tracking:
Oversee the development and monitoring of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for quality-related metrics. Prepare and present regular reports to leadership. - Technical Support:
Provide technical input for new product development and manufacturing processes. - Nonconforming Material Management:
Oversee the valuation and resolution of Hold for Inspection (HFI) materials and manage claims reserves. - Quoting Support:
Provide input during the quoting process, including material recommendations and process capability evaluations. - APQP, FMEAs, Control Plans:
Lead the development and upkeep of Advanced Product Quality Planning documents, including FMEAs and control plans. - Complaint Management:
Monitor complaint trends and maintain interdepartmental communication for timely resolution.
Non-Essential Functions
- Provide technical assistance to production and sales as needed
- Manage departmental budget and maintain adherence to financial plans
- Support annual operating plan development and track variances
- Coordinate quality-related legal claims and negotiations
Position Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Quality Management, Chemistry, Engineering, or a related field
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing quality environment, with a strong focus on ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and ISO 17025 systems
- In-depth knowledge of manufacturing quality and production processes, and how they interact with other functions such as purchasing, customer service, inventory, R&D, marketing, and logistics
- Strong technical communication skills and ability to engage with customers on both sales and technical issues
- Proven leadership skills with experience managing teams of 10 or more
- Excellent planning, coordination, and organizational abilities
- Willingness to travel as needed
