QUALITY ASSURANCE INSPECTOR JOB DESCRIPTION


POSITION SUMMARY:

A Quality Assurance Inspector is responsible for making sure that products meet a set of quality, integrity, and efficiency standards set by the organization. Their duties include examining shipments of inventory and product parts, measuring the specifications of random items in each production run, and supporting production operations to refine production quality. This role will collaborate with Quality, Custom Solutions Assembly and the Application Engineering departments on quality improvements, development of inspection plans, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Inspecting output samples using industry-appropriate methods, such as comparing to standards, measuring dimensions, and examining functionality
  • Checking that the assembly or production line adheres to standards and procedures and complying with Swagelok requirements
  • Reviewing drawings and specifications to compare to produced goods
  • Recording inspection results by completing reports, summarizing re-works and wastes and inputting data into quality database
  • Training the production team on quality control measures to improve product excellence
  • Updating job knowledge by engaging in educational opportunities and regular training
  • Keeping measurement equipment operating accurately by following calibration requirements and calling for repairs and verifying all equipment is calibrated correctly
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings
  • Using Metrology equipment such as calipers and micrometers to measure products
  • Working within the Quality Management software system to compile, manage and maintain quality documentation.
  • Assisting in the development of test methods and inspection plans
  • Determining the causes of product defects and reworks
  • Receive and maintained required certifications from Swagelok to support assembly production as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Two year degree in industrial-related industry a plus
  • Quality system inspection related experience required.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Basic computer and math skills to calibrate and measure specifications
  • Ability to use measuring devices like gauges, micrometers, calipers, and computers
  • Thorough understanding of quality control standards and methodologies.
  • Ability to read CAD or SolidWorks drawings
  • Documentation and reporting skills
  • Teamwork and collaboration
  • Comfortable standing or walking for long periods of time
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Knowledge of 5S Lean methodology
  • SAP B1 experience a plus

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Travel between assembly facilities as necessary.
  • Must pass Visual Acuity requirements for inspection.
  • Regularly required to use hands to keyboard, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.
  • Lift and/or move objects 5-25lbs occasionally.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Required to stand, walk, sit, or stoop.
  • All associates are expected to maintain a neat and orderly workspace while working together to keep common areas clean.
  • Frequently engages in activities that require the use of hands for typing, handling, or feeling objects, reaching with hands and arms.
  • Engage in effective verbal communication and active listening.
