QC Inspector (Pressure Vessel, ASME Experience Required)

Job summary: The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for ensuring all material and manufactured products are built and received according to purchase orders, drawings, customer specifications and ASME code. The QHSE Inspector is directly responsible for training, developing, and implementing appropriate measures and maintaining weekly reports on products during fabrication as well as reports on safety for the entire campus. The QHSE Inspector is responsible for all safety training, certifying welders and assigning welding stamps to new hires, Data Books, NDE and final sections before equipment can be loaded onto a truck for transport. The Quality Control Inspector will report directly to the Quality Control HSE Manager.

 

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Knowledge of ASME Code and Mueller’s Quality Control Manual
  • The ability to read and understand Engineering drawings, and purchase orders for material and Equipment
  • Read, interpret and apply customer specifications ensuring engineering principles and requirements are met
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Knowledge of Rigging
  • Knowledge of building Data Books and the contents for each section per Mueller Policy
  • Interface with authorized inspectors on several levels to ensure code compliance and procedures are being followed
  • Understanding of NDE and schedules to ensure all equipment is tested appropriately
  • Interface with appropriate inspectors and agencies to ensure all required documentation and actions are taken
  • Prepare ASME Data Reports, assign Board numbers and maintain Board Logbook
  • Train employees on quality control issues and safety to ensure employees have the ongoing knowledge needed to build equipment
  • Review all internal drawings to identify any special quality requirements and advise appropriate departments
  • Communicate to Quality Health Safety Environment Manager issues regarding the QC Manual and observations or new knowledge of changes that occur in code for ASME certificates of Authorization, Stamps, and Board Authorization, State and Local Licenses and ISO Certification
  • Develop and implement new procedures when needed under the approval of the QHSE Manager
  • Work closely with fabricators to ensure all drawing requirements, code requirements and contract requirements are properly implemented during manufacturing
  • Other duties as assigned

 

 

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Must be able to read and follow instructions both written and verbally in English, bilingual a plus
  • Pressure vessel experience and ASME experience Required
  • High School Diploma
  • Must have 3-5 years’ experience in ASME, ISO 9001, and ASNT level certification
  • NDE knowledge and experience in manufacturing
  • Be comfortable mentoring co-workers to ensure compliance for all facets including ASME, ISO and Customer Specifications
  • Safety focused
  • Strong organizational skills with great attention to detail
  • Works with calculator, computer, and other electronic equipment efficiently
  • Sensitive to deadlines, ability to multi-task
  • Time management, Data entry management, and General math skills
  • Read engineering drawings and the ability to check dimensions
  • Knowledge of fitups, paint, heat treat and hydro testing
  • Team focused and the ability to decipher large amounts of knowledge and condense into reportable outcomes
  • Ability to work as a team and working towards accomplishing tasks as a team

 

Physical Requirements and other items to communicate:

The ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Work in a high-pace manufacturing environment. Have the ability to multi-task by sharing workspace with interruption from others. Overtime may be required in order to meet tight deadlines.
