Responsibilities
About the Role
As the Purchasing Manager at IES Residential, you will oversee the procurement of materials, equipment, goods, and services critical to our operations. You will develop and execute strategic sourcing initiatives across multiple categories to drive cost savings, ensure vendor quality, and optimize our supply chain.
This role requires strong negotiation and vendor management skills, analytical expertise, and the ability to forecast market trends to mitigate risk. Your work will have a direct impact on operational efficiency, profitability, and successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities

Develop, lead, and implement purchasing strategies aligned with business goals

Negotiate contracts and close deals that ensure optimal pricing, quality, and delivery timelines

Partner cross-functionally with internal teams to define procurement needs and project specifications

Identify, evaluate, and qualify suppliers; build and maintain long-term vendor relationships

Monitor inventory levels and forecast material requirements

Conduct cost analysis, benchmarking, and scenario planning to support strategic decisions

Track and report on key purchasing metrics (KPIs) to drive performance improvements

Manage procurement risk by monitoring market conditions, supplier performance, and compliance requirements

Lead sourcing innovation and continuous improvement initiatives within procurement processes
Qualifications
Requirements & Qualifications

Proven experience as a Purchasing Manager, Procurement Officer, or in a similar role

Strong knowledge of sourcing, procurement, and vendor management best practices

Solid understanding of market dynamics, negotiation strategies, and supply chain operations

High proficiency with procurement systems and vendor management tools

Strong analytical skills with a data-driven approach to decision-making

Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills

Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field
Skills

Experience in the electrical industry strongly ; construction or manufacturing experience also valued

Familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics

Professional certifications such as CPSM, CPIM, or similar are a plus
Work Environment

Office-based role with regular interaction with vendors, internal departments, and field operations

Occasional travel to supplier sites, industry events, or project locations may be required

Extended hours may be necessary during peak procurement cycles or major project rollouts
