Purchasing Manager | Holt, MI

Salary Range: $83,000 - $123,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategic purchasing plans and policies for raw materials, components, and MRO supplies.
• Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers to achieve cost savings and favorable conditions.
• Source, evaluate, and qualify new suppliers to ensure a reliable and high-quality supply chain.
• Manage supplier relationships, monitor performance, and resolve issues to maintain strong partnerships.
• Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to ensure timely delivery and material compliance.
• Identify and implement cost reduction initiatives without compromising quality or supply reliability.
• Oversee inventory levels of purchased goods to optimize working capital and support production schedules.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the purchasing team to enhance departmental effectiveness.

Recommended Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
• Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems relevant to procurement (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
• Strong understanding of supply chain management principles and strategic sourcing.
• Proven track record of achieving cost reductions and optimizing procurement processes.

Bonus Qualifications

• Advanced proficiency with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics).
• Certification in Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.
• Experience with international sourcing, import/export regulations, and global logistics.
• Demonstrated experience in supplier quality management and development.
