Purchasing Manager | DeWitt, MI

Salary Range: $82,000 - $122,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement purchasing strategies to optimize cost, quality, and delivery performance.
• Source, evaluate, and select new suppliers while managing existing vendor relationships and performance.
• Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers to achieve favorable agreements and cost savings.
• Collaborate with production and inventory teams to ensure timely material availability and minimize stockouts.
• Monitor market trends, supplier capabilities, and commodity prices to inform purchasing decisions.
• Implement and manage supplier quality programs, ensuring all purchased materials meet required specifications.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the purchasing department, focusing on efficiency and cost reduction.

Recommended Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive experience in purchasing or procurement within a manufacturing environment.
• Proven leadership and team management skills, with experience developing and mentoring purchasing staff.
• Exceptional negotiation and supplier relationship management abilities.
• Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) for procurement functions.
• Demonstrated ability to implement cost reduction strategies and optimize supply chain efficiencies.

Bonus Qualifications

• Advanced proficiency with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) for optimization and reporting.
• Experience with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.
• Demonstrated experience in international sourcing and logistics.
• Proficiency in data analytics tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) for spend analysis and vendor performance tracking.
