Job Title: Purchasing Manager

Department: Supply Chain

Reports To: GM of Supply Chain & Asset Management

FLSA Status: Exempt

Position Status: Salary Exempt

SUMMARY

Reporting to the GM of Supply Chain and Asset Management, the Purchasing Manager will be responsible for the procurement of quality, cost competitive parts for use in servicing and repair of WGPW’s targeted fleet of industrial turbines. In addition, they will manage the research & quoting of all RFQ’s from customers for part sales.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage relationships with vendors, ensuring the timely delivery of goods and services. This includes identifying opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
  • Managing the procurement team. This includes planning, directing, and coordinating the activities of the buyers involved in purchasing materials, products & services.
  • Monitoring inventory minimum/maximum requirements to ensure adequate stock levels.
  • Research, quote, and maintain quote files related to part sales.
  • Foster positive and collaborative relationships with vendors.
  • Identify and help mitigate potential risks with vendors.
  • Proactively managing vendor delivery dates to ensure on-time delivery of products and services.
  • Communicate effectively with current stakeholders to relay delivery related information and address any concerns.
  • Streamline procurement processes to increase operating efficiency.
  • Comply with all WGPW EHS standards and procedures as outlined in the EHS program and employee handbook.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong negotiation, contract management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in using vendor management software and Microsoft office suite.
  • Proven experience in procurement with a production or manufacturing environment.
  • Must be able to read, interpret, document and use manufacturer’s technical manuals, service Bulletins, Illustrated Parts Catalogs, assembly drawings, inspection sheets and WGP&W assembly records.
  • Ability to solve unusual problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to read and interpret blue prints.

EDUCATION

A bachelor's degree in supply chain management is .
