About the Role:
The Purchasing Manager in the construction industry plays a critical role in ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement of materials and services necessary for project completion. This position is responsible for developing and implementing purchasing strategies that align with company goals while maintaining strong relationships with suppliers and vendors. The Purchasing Manager oversees the entire supply chain process, from sourcing and negotiating contracts to managing inventory and ensuring compliance with quality standards. By optimizing procurement processes and driving cost reduction initiatives, this role directly contributes to the profitability and efficiency of construction projects. Ultimately, the Purchasing Manager ensures that all materials and supplies are available when needed, supporting uninterrupted project progress and client satisfaction.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field .
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in purchasing or supply chain management within the construction industry.
- Proven experience in vendor negotiations and contract management.
- Strong knowledge of materials management, inventory control, and purchase order systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Qualifications:
- Professional certification such as Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) or Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM).
- Experience with ERP software and procurement management systems.
- Familiarity with construction project management processes and terminology.
- Demonstrated success in leading cost reduction and process improvement initiatives.
- Advanced skills in data analysis and reporting tools.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute purchasing strategies to meet project requirements and budget constraints.
- Negotiate contracts and pricing with suppliers and vendors to secure favorable terms and cost savings.
- Manage purchase orders, track deliveries, and ensure timely receipt of materials to avoid project delays.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and inventory teams to forecast material needs and maintain optimal inventory levels.
- Monitor supplier performance and maintain strong vendor relationships to ensure quality and reliability.
- Implement cost reduction initiatives while maintaining compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Analyze market trends and supplier capabilities to identify new sourcing opportunities.
- Prepare reports on purchasing activities, cost savings, and supplier performance for senior management.
Additional Information:
The Salary Range for this position is $100,000 - $140,000 annual base salary + annual performance bonus. We also off the following benefits:
