About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager to lead our procurement team and drive strategic sourcing initiatives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. This role is a hybrid position based in Auburn Hills, MI, offering the opportunity to make a significant impact on supplier relationships, cost optimization, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of purchasing professionals, providing guidance, performance feedback, and development opportunities.
- Serve as the main interface between the Supply Chain Management (SCM) team and senior leadership.
- Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on quality, cost-effectiveness, and reliability.
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to foster collaboration.
- Conduct complex cost and price analyses to ensure fair and reasonable pricing.
- Ensure contract files meet all Government/Customer requirements for SCMs approved Cost Estimating and Purchasing Systems.
- Interpret and communicate supplier data in compliance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) requirements.
- Manage deliverables through effective resource allocation and team collaboration.
- Benchmark industry best practices to improve products, processes, and strategies.
- Monitor market trends, industry advancements, and technologies to identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Partner with finance, operations, and legal teams to align purchasing activities with organizational goals.
- Develop KPIs and metrics to track value creation initiatives.
- Support business case development for strategic projects, mergers, partnerships, and market entry.
- Build trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders to drive collaboration and innovation.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field (CPSM/CPM and/or MBA ).
- Minimum 2 years of professional military/government purchasing experience.
- 5+ years of managerial and employee development experience.
- Proven success in cross-functional leadership and strategic sourcing.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
- Technical understanding of main vehicle components.
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and results-driven with the ability to prioritize effectively.
