Job DescriptionJob Description

You will serve as the primary technical advisor and relationship manager for a diverse, blue-chip client base, driving annual sales growth through expert application engineering and superior customer service.

Location & Territory

  • Home Office Based: The qualified candidate will establish a home office within an active portion of the territory (e.g., Corpus Christi area ).
  • Territory: Primarily South/Southwest Texas, including major markets like Corpus Christi, San Antonio, and Austin.
  • Travel: Daily travel within the territory is required, with occasional overnights.

Key Clients & Industries

Your established client base is highly diversified, providing stability and varied technical challenges:

  • Energy: Petroleum production (pipeline, refining, terminals)
  • Chemical: Basic and specialty chemical manufacturing/processing, packaging, and distribution.
  • Water/Wastewater: Effluent transfer, treatment, and municipal systems.
  • Manufacturing: OEM and systems builders.
  • Utilities: Electrical power .
  • R&D: Research and Development organizations.

 

Core Duties & Responsibilities

The Sales Engineer acts as the central nexus between our clients and TPE's internal resources. Your main goal is to ensure customer satisfaction and drive territory sales growth.

Technical Sales & Support

  • Application Engineering: Act as a technical resource, consulting with engineers, contractors, and end-users. Provide expert guidance and support in product selection, sizing, and application engineering for pumps, tanks, and control systems.
  • Troubleshooting: Provide technical and application troubleshooting support to resolve client operational issues promptly.
  • Communication: Clearly communicate complex technical solutions and concepts to both highly technical and non-technical audiences.

Business Development & Account Management

  • Relationship Building: Cultivate and maintain strong, trust-based relationships to retain existing business and identify opportunities for new customer acquisition.
  • Client Advocacy: Serve as the client's representative within TPE, collaborating with internal departments (e.g., manufacturing, service) to ensure all customer requests and demands are met, focusing on improving the overall customer experience.
  • Market Insight: Track customer behavior and market trends to anticipate changing needs and proactively position TPE solutions.

Desired Qualifications

Education & Technical Expertise

  • Technical Degree: Bachelor of Science in Engineering or other technical field of study (Engineering degree is strongly but not strictly required).
  • Industry Knowledge: Practical understanding of the design, application, performance characteristics, and related thermodynamics (where applicable) for various types of pumps, electric motors, XLPE tanks, and industrial instrumentation/control systems.
  • Communication Skills: Comprehensive training and presentation skills to effectively convey technical information.

Requirements & Skills

  • Technical Communication: Proven ability to understand and communicate complex technical concepts effectively.
  • Computer Proficiency: Independent operating skill of Windows-based systems, including Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) and general business operating systems.
  • Licensing: Valid, unrestricted Driver's License. Must be qualified for, or currently hold, a TWIC Identification Card (TSA or U.S. Coast Guard program participant).
  • Traits: Excellent verbal and written communication, self-motivation, strong organizational skills, and an up-to-date understanding of industry technologies and consumer behavior.
