Public Relations Spec., Media Analyst, Media Researcher

Media Research and Advisory Group (MRAG) is in charge of developing and overseeing the corporate media strategy execution.

The position requires research and analytical capabilities including reviewing media sentiment and reputational data and insights. Additionally, being able to reflect data into proper media strategies and content plans. The work also involves assessing impact of communication activities and recommending proper adjustment.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Select methods appropriate to develop a robust data science research base focusing on media trends that the company should capitalize on, along with the means of execution

  • Develop a research database with information as a reference guide for Media Relations team utilization

  • Design and use qualitative and quantitative research tools such as questionnaires by focus groups to be shared with journalist for feedback/interests that would be incorporated into the database

  • Analyze press releases, and broadcast coverage to assess sentiment and perception of Comapany.

  • Create in-depth research Q&A’s for high level strategic messaging

  • Work with consultants/ agency to ensure obtaining the highest of intelligence needed for development of deliverables

  • Gather data for benchmarks of Companies executive’s media engagements vs. engagements of corresponding IOC’s executive on select futuristic data driven topics

  • Utilize data from media reports to trigger research on certain sensitivities with select journalists and outlets

  • Summarize data into key objectives for company related (by business line) items/ potential trend coverage to feed into the robust communications strategy

  • Observe media inquiries for research purposes, using them to feed into background on journalists

Minimum Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor in Mass Communications, Data Science, Communications Research, Political Science, and International Relations.

  • Experience: Minimum of (5) years of experience in research, and relevant work with media is desirable

  • Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, the ability to effectively write key messages.

  • : Excellent English .

  • Other: Knowledge and understanding of the news media industry and the broader energy industry is critical. The individual must pay attention to detail, be a strategic thinker, exert inquisitiveness, have strong research and analytical skills
