The Opportunity

\n

We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established and growing utilities and civil engineering contractor based in the West Midlands.

\n

Due to continued growth and an expanding portfolio of projects, they are looking to appoint an experienced Project Manager to oversee the successful delivery of multi-utility and energy infrastructure projects.

\n

The Role

\n

As Project Manager, you will take responsibility for the safe, compliant and commercially effective delivery of a portfolio of projects.

\n

You will manage multidisciplinary operational teams and subcontractors, ensuring projects are properly planned, sites are construction-ready, materials and plant are available when required, and works are completed safely, on programme and to the required technical standards.

\n

Key Responsibilities

\n

    \n
  • Manage projects from initial site meetings through to successful completion.
  • \n

  • Develop, manage and maintain programmes of work using Microsoft Project.
  • \n

  • Coordinate operational teams, direct labour and subcontractors.
  • \n

  • Ensure sites are prepared appropriately ahead of construction activities.
  • \n

  • Manage the timely procurement and availability of plant and materials.
  • \n

  • Ensure utility infrastructure is constructed safely and in accordance with approved designs, specifications and technical standards.
  • \n

  • Monitor project productivity, programme performance and costs.
  • \n

  • Manage project variations and changes to planned works.
  • \n

  • Maintain accurate project documentation, site diaries and asset records.
  • \n

  • Provide technical guidance to clients, contractors and operational teams.
  • \n

  • Monitor material usage and storage to minimise waste.
  • \n

  • Carry out site and contractor audits and ensure any corrective actions are resolved promptly.
  • \n

  • Support incident investigations and reporting where required.
  • \n

  • Manage employee performance, competency requirements and annual appraisals.
  • \n

  • Work closely with the PMO team to ensure effective project governance and reporting.
  • \n

  • Maintain compliance with relevant legislation, company procedures and industry requirements.
  • \n

Experience

\n

    \n
  • Strong Project Management experience within the multi-utilities, energy, civil engineering or infrastructure sector.
  • \n

  • Experience managing operational teams and subcontractors.
  • \n

  • Strong knowledge of construction and utility project delivery.
  • \n

  • Experience producing and managing programmes using Microsoft Project.
  • \n

  • Strong understanding of health, safety and compliance requirements.
  • \n

  • Excellent stakeholder and client management skills.
  • \n

  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • \n

  • Commercial awareness and experience delivering projects to programme and budget.
  • \n

  • The ability to operate effectively within a fast-paced project environment.
  • \n

Qualifications

  • NRSWA Supervisor Card
  • \n

  • SMSTS
  • \n

  • NEBOSH Construction Certificate or IOSH qualification
  • \n

  • SHEA Gas, Power and/or Water
  • \n

  • Water Hygiene
  • \n

  • SCO qualifications,
  • \n

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Project, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • \n
