Job Description: Project Manager / T3 Escalation Engineer
Position Summary
This dual-role position at PDS requires a unique individual who can manage complex IT projects from inception to completion while serving as the top-tier technical escalation point (Tier 3) for our service team. This role requires a strong blend of leadership, communication, and technical excellence. The right candidate will model servant-hearted leadership, uphold high standards, and support both clients and team members through thoughtful, calm, and strategic action.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management (Approximately 60%):
- Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of IT infrastructure projects including server migrations, network overhauls, cloud and hybrid deployments, and compliance implementations.
- Coordinate internal resources and vendors to ensure project delivery is on time and within scope.
- Maintain detailed project documentation and conduct meetings with clients and internal stakeholders.
- Communicate proactively with clients, vendors, and PDS team.
- Manage change control and risk mitigation strategies.
- Schedule and manage after-hours work to avoid client disruption.
Tier 3 Technical Escalation (Approximately 40%):
- Act as the highest-level technical resource for escalated support issues.
- Troubleshoot complex systems and infrastructure issues across Microsoft, virtualization, and networking environments.
- Lead root-cause analysis and permanent resolution strategies.
- Mentor junior engineers and assist in technical knowledge development.
- Collaborate on technical standards and service alignment with business goals.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of IT engineering experience, including project work and Tier 3 escalation.
- Proven project management experience in IT infrastructure and cloud solutions.
- Advanced troubleshooting in Microsoft, networking, and virtualization environments.
- Security-first mindset and strong communication skills.
- Strong documentation and technical writing skills.
Certifications (Not Required)
- Microsoft Azure Administrator Associate or higher
- CompTIA Security+
- Cisco CCNA
- Project Management certification (PMP, CAPM, Agile)

Work Environment
- Office-based with remote flexibility
- Travel required for on-site client engagements within Wyoming, Montana, Colorado, and surrounding regions

This role serves as a stepping stone to higher levels of leadership within PDS. The defined growth path includes:
Step 1: Establishing ownership of project management and technical escalation 1--2 Year Period
Step 2: Transitioning into a Supervisory Position 2-3 year period
Step 3: Advancing into Leadership within the Technical Team 2-3
Step 4: Consideration for IT Director Role over a 35 year period
