PROJECT MANAGER, POWER DIVISION

Reports To: Sr. Project Manager

Status:

Regular, Full Time, Exempt

Primary Function:

Provide overall and complete management direction for existing projects.

Expectations and Responsibilities:

The following list outlines the duties and responsibilities associated with this position. It is understood that this list is intended to be representative of the functions that may reasonably be expected of the position. It is not intended to be comprehensive.

Develop an understanding of the project plans and specifications.

Track and review BFJ crews & subcontractors' quantities daily, checking for accuracy and entering progress into the assigned database/software.

Ensure proper cost tracking and productivity reporting for projects.

Review estimates for accuracy of quantities.

Review subcontractors' invoices for accuracy of quantities.

Coordinate with the team and report on the progress of subcontractors.

Review Budget/Cost/Production reports with the Superintendent, monitoring progress to ensure maximum production is achieved.

Assist in maintaining the project submittal register, including reviewing and approving subcontractor submittals.

Maintain the project-specific RFI log.

Assist in preplanning BFJ projects, developing budgets, creating project manuals/foreman job books, and short-term project scheduling.

Review work in progress for quality and accuracy; perform project completion QC checklists.

Manage and develop project needs summaries and coordinate deliveries as needed.

Obtain and submit all COI, CCIP, OCIP, DBE, CBE, etc., documentation for BFJ and its subcontractors.

Manage the project buyout process and BFJ Materials staff.

Maintain a project diary/log, including:

Daily activity

Weather Day Report

Issues/Accidents/Incidents

Maintain project schedules (where applicable) to track delays, progress, and resource allocation.

Review submittals and shop drawings for subcontractors before submission to the owner.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications, & Experience:

B.S. degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Construction Management .

Must be able to apply innovative and effective management techniques to maximize project performance.

Desired 3-5 years of experience fully managing construction projects, including all aspects such as scheduling, budgets, customer relations, change orders, and handling issues/problems that arise.

Thorough understanding of corporate and industry practices, processes, standards, etc., and their impact on project activities is vital. Superior communication and interpersonal skills (tact, diplomacy, influence, etc.) are essential.

Significant business skills required.

Excellent leadership and analytical skills are mandatory.
