Job Description
Project Manager I
Plainfield, IN (Onsite – 5 days/week)
12-month contract (with possible extension or conversion)
Pay range $54-57hr (depending on experience)
Job Summary
The Project Manager I is responsible for managing, or supporting the management of, all phases of project planning and execution for capital and infrastructure projects. This role may operate with single‑point accountability or under the guidance of a Project Director or Senior Project Manager. The Project Manager ensures project success across scope, schedule, cost, quality, safety, environmental, security, and integration objectives.
This role is typically assigned multiple “White” or “Green I” projects as defined by the Project Management Center of Excellence (PMCoE) Project Profile Matrix. In aggregate, projects are generally under $10M with low to moderate complexity, primarily impacting a facility or department level. The PM I serves as the unifying lead, coordinating internal and external teams in accordance with company standards, processes, and governance.
This position is fully onsite in Plainfield, Indiana and works closely with engineering, construction, and utility-focused teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Create, staff, and lead project teams.
- Provide day‑to‑day leadership, coordination, and oversight across internal and external partners supporting the project, including development, engineering, project controls, estimating, construction management, supply chain, legal, EHS, QA/QC, operations, communications, regulatory, security, fuels, transmission, utilities, and related functions.
- Manage matrixed team members and interface with functional managers to support resourcing, development, and conflict resolution.
- Establish and maintain clear communication across all project stakeholders.
- Lead or support project meetings and reporting cadence including kickoff meetings, weekly updates, monthly reports, and project reviews.
- Ensure project plans and reporting align with PMCoE standards and effectively communicate project status to management and governance teams.
- Plan assigned projects with accountability for scope, schedule, cost, safety, and quality.
- Drive planning activities including scope definition, estimating, scheduling, cost control, procurement and contracting strategies, equipment and vendor selection, construction planning, start‑up and commissioning, and integration with operations.
- Execute projects according to defined plans and within approved scope, schedule, and budget.
- Oversee deliverables across the full project lifecycle including objectives, stakeholder alignment, roles and responsibilities, assumptions and constraints, work breakdown structures, schedules, budgets, risk management, quality and safety plans, environmental and security plans, regulatory strategy, change management, data management, communications, close‑out, and lessons learned.

Required Qualifications
- Associate’s degree and a minimum of 2 years of related project experience OR High School diploma or GED and a minimum of 5 years of related project experience
- Experience working across engineering, construction, or utility‑based project environments
- Strong preference for candidates with experience in utility, transmission, or electrical engineering environments
- Project Management certification unless offset by strong engineering experience
