Job Summary

The Mississippi Department of Education (MDE K-12) is seeking an experienced IT Project Manager to lead and manage enterprise-level technology initiatives. This role will oversee the full project lifecycle, coordinate with technical and business stakeholders, manage requirements and documentation, and ensure successful delivery of IT and software development projects supporting K-12 education systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage IT projects across the full project management and SDLC lifecycle
  
  
• Gather, analyze, document, and manage business and technical requirements
  
  
• Translate stakeholder needs into functional and technical documentation
  
  
• Coordinate with developers, QA, architects, business analysts, and leadership
  
  
• Track project progress, risks, dependencies, and provide status reporting
  
  
• Develop business cases, cost-benefit analysis, and risk assessments
  
  
• Maintain project standards, repositories, and project portfolios
  
  
• Support Agile, Scrum, and Waterfall delivery environments
  
  
• Create and maintain documentation including:
  
  
  • Requirements & Design Documents
    
    
  • User Stories & Use Cases
    
    
  • RTM, Test Cases, User & System Guides
    
    

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Strong experience in IT Project Management
  
  
• Knowledge of PMI / PMBOK standards
  
  
• Experience managing projects through SDLC
  
  
• Requirements management and traceability (RTM)
  
  
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
  
  
• Experience with Azure DevOps, Git, or similar tools
  
  
• Business process mapping and technical documentation experience
  
  
• Understanding of software and database development concepts
  
  

Qualifications

• PMP or PgMP certification
  
  
• Agile / Scrum experience
  
  
• Public sector or K-12 education IT experience
