Job Title: Project Manager – Hydro Engineering

Location: Rochester, NY (Scottsville Road)

Work type: Office

The salary range for this position is dependent upon experience, ranging from $94,490 to $118,113.

Job Summary

This position is for a Project Manager who communicates directly with client / internal customer. Leads Hydro Engineering project team in the execution of the projects. Provides oversight of lead discipline engineers, project administrators, project controls / scheduler representatives, procurement representative and other team members assigned to the project.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with engineering teams both external and internal during the early project development phase to better define project scope through conceptual engineering to final designs.

  • Develop project initiation documents such as the Project Charter and Project Management Plan. Oversee the preparation, approval, and updates of Quality Management System documentation, securing Steering Committee approval where required.

  • Direct a multidisciplinary project team, through all phases - from initiation to closeout -ensuring alignment with project objectives and timelines. Maintain and update project schedule as required.

  • Monitor and manage project finances, including budgeting, monthly forecasting, cost control, and procurement activities such as purchase order creation to maintain each project’s financial integrity.

  • Take projects through the complete bid process with multiple external vendors. Develop and execute contracts with multiple vendors while fostering strong, collaborative relationships.

  • Ensure all project activities adhere to applicable federal, state, and local regulations. Work with permitting teams to develop detailed permitting plans throughout the life of a project.

  • Promote and maintain a safety-first mindset throughout all project phases, prioritizing the well-being of team members and stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:

Education & Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum 5-7 years of relevant experience required.

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.

  • Demonstrated experience in leading large teams.

  • Experience leading implementation of complex initiatives.

  • Demonstrated understanding of utility operations and customer interaction.

  • Direct experience in business case development and benefits capture.

  • Demonstrated experience in the execution of strategic objectives.

  • Proven track record of achieving results in high pressure and high-profile assignments.

  • Energizing leader that possesses strong interpersonal communication and facilitation skills, be detail-oriented, thorough and results-focused.

  • Self-starter able to work well in new and undefined environments

  • Strong skills in following up and following through with action items and dependencies

  • Utilize risk management to ensure achievement of results

  • Review the Performance Measurement Baseline (PMB) included in the Project Management Plan to be validated by Steering Committee.

  • Verify the Project adherence to federal and state regulatory requirements.

  • Approve all project deliverables by verifying (sign off) processes and documents

  • Provide overall project oversight to keep project on track

  • Ensure business and functional decisions which affect the project, are made to ensure progress and completion

  • Ensure Change Management processes to develop readiness plan and related deliverables

  • Escalate issues to Steering Committee when necessary. Deliver project communications to stakeholders and Steering Committee

  • Make project decisions to ensure all project deliverables are on time, budget and quality

  • Provide overall project oversight and works within organization to keep project on track

  • Verify and approves the forecast and performance measurement of the project

  • Must have excellent leadership ability, communications skills, interpersonal skills, decision-making skills and sound judgment
