£50m DfE Education Scheme – South West London

We are recruiting for an experienced Project Manager to lead the delivery of a £50m Department for Education (DfE) new build scheme in South West London.

This is a key leadership role within a Tier 1 contracting environment, responsible for the successful delivery of a major education project from pre-construction through to completion. The successful candidate will take full ownership of programme, commercial performance, and site delivery.

This is a hands-on position requiring strong leadership on site, not a reporting-only role.

Key Responsibilities

• Take full responsibility for project delivery, acting as Number 1 on site
• Lead programme management, ensuring key milestones and critical path activities are achieved
• Oversee client, consultant, and stakeholder relationships throughout the project lifecycle
• Chair progress, risk, design, and coordination meetings
• Manage design development through to technical sign-off
• Control change management processes and ensure robust cost reporting
• Monitor subcontractor performance and ensure alignment with programme and quality expectations
• Lead procurement strategy, package buyout, and supply chain coordination
• Ensure compliance with DfE frameworks, gateways, and reporting requirements
• Maintain momentum on site while ensuring governance and compliance standards are met

Candidate Requirements

• Proven experience delivering DfE or framework-led education construction projects
• Strong track record in project delivery within a Tier 1 contractor environment
• Excellent understanding of programme management, commercial control, and risk management
• Ability to lead client-facing meetings and manage senior stakeholders
• Strong technical understanding of construction delivery from design through to handover
• Confident managing site teams, consultants, and subcontractors in a live environment
• Ability to balance governance requirements with proactive site delivery
