Job Description

Freelance Project Manager – Data Centers (Thermal Management & Heat Recovery)

Location: Germany (on-site with occasional travel)

Duration: 18+ months

EU Passport required | English-speaking role

Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Freelance Project Manager to lead and support data center projects in Germany, with a strong focus on thermal management, heat waste recovery, and advanced cooling systems. This role involves end-to-end project leadership, client engagement, and technical coordination across all project phases.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage full project lifecycle for thermal and cooling systems in operational and new-build data centers
• Lead client-facing meetings to win new projects and define technical scopes
• Coordinate subcontractors, engineers, and technical teams on-site
• Oversee the design, implementation, and optimisation of heat recovery and cooling solutions
• Ensure project delivery is on time, within scope, and aligned with quality standards and regulatory compliance
• Collaborate with stakeholders to integrate sustainability and energy efficiency goals

Requirements:

• Proven experience managing technical projects in data centers, particularly related to cooling, HVAC, or thermal energy systems
• Strong understanding of heat recovery, waste heat utilisation, and critical infrastructure cooling
• Ability to work independently as a freelancer/contractor
• Fluent in English (German a plus)
• Valid EU passport (due to site access/security and travel requirements)
• Engineering or technical background highly desirable

Contract Terms:

• Freelance / Contract
• 18+ months, with strong potential for extension
• Competitive daily rate (depending on experience)
• On-site presence required in Germany (some hybrid flexibility negotiable)
