Project Manager Civil Construction
Job DescriptionJob Description
Job Summary:
We’re looking for a Project Manager who can run underground utility jobs like a well-oiled machine. If you know how to keep crews moving, subs honest, inspectors happy, and projects on schedule without blowing the budget, you might be our person. This isn’t a desk-only gig — you’ll be in the field, in the dirt, making sure the job gets done right the first time.
What You’ll Be Doing:
-
Own the project from start to finish. Planning, execution, closeout — it’s all on you.
-
Build and manage schedules and budgets that actually work (not just look good on paper).
-
Keep safety a priority. If you don’t care about OSHA, don’t bother applying.
-
Work with city officials, inspectors, clients, and crews without losing your cool.
-
Stay ahead of problems before they turn into delays or money pits.
-
Review and approve purchase orders, invoices, and change orders (we don’t like surprises when it comes to money).
-
Walk the site often — not just for the photo op. Make sure the work, safety, and quality are where they need to be.
-
Keep paperwork and documentation in order so no one has to chase you down.
-
Mentor and back up your supervisors — the crew runs better when the leaders are sharp.
What We’re Looking For:
-
2+ years managing civil/utility projects (excavation, water, sewer, storm, municipal work).
-
Strong knowledge of underground utilities, concrete, dirt work, and how jobs really get built.
-
Able to read and interpret plans, specs, and contracts without guessing.
-
Comfortable with Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, and project management software.
-
Problem-solver who doesn’t panic when things go sideways.
-
Solid communicator who can talk to anyone — city inspectors, operators, laborers, and clients.
-
Deep knowledge of OSHA and safety best practices.
-
Valid driver’s license and clean record.
-
Spanish bilingual is a strong plus.
Requirements:
-
Bachelor’s in Engineering , but we care more about whether you can actually run a job.
-
At least 2 years as an APM, PM, or similar leadership role in underground utilities.
Bottom Line:
If you can’t handle dirt, deadlines, and difficult people — this isn’t for you. But if you’re the kind of leader who thrives on keeping chaos in check, driving projects across the finish line, and doing it safely and profitably, we’d like to meet you.
