We are currently seeking an experienced Field Project Lead to join our growing team. This position is ideal for a hands-on leader with strong shipboard mechanical and hydraulic systems experience who can effectively manage projects, personnel, schedules, and customer expectations in fast-paced shipyard and maritime environments.

Position Summary

The Field Project Lead will oversee project execution from planning through completion while ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within scope. This role requires a combination of field leadership, technical expertise, project coordination, and hands-on support when needed.

The ideal candidate has experience managing ship repair or industrial projects involving Navy or commercial vessel systems and is comfortable working directly with operations teams, subcontractors, customers, and shipyard personnel.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage project execution based on scope, timelines, and operational priorities
• Coordinate scheduling, manpower, and project resources with the Operations Manager
• Communicate directly with customers, subcontractors, management, and shipyard personnel regarding project progress, scheduling, and support requirements
• Attend and lead onsite meetings, walkthroughs, and project briefings
• Develop and submit daily status reports, inspection reports, and condition reports
• Assist with troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, and shipboard systems
• Perform both field oversight and hands-on support alongside technicians when needed
• Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals
• Provide technical guidance and operational support to field personnel
• Supervise personnel while ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards
• Monitor project schedules, budgets, and milestones while providing regular progress updates to management
• Ensure all work complies with NAVSEA standards and customer requirements
• Support additional operational duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
• Minimum 7 years of related maritime, ship repair, or related experience
• Minimum 2 years of Project Management experience
• Strong knowledge of NAVSEA standard items and shipyard operations
• Experience with mechanical, hydraulic, piping, structural, or electrical shipboard systems
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manuals
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in fast-paced environments
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
• Ability to pass background checks and maintain access to ports, shipyards, and military bases
• Ability to obtain DBIDS and other required security clearances
• Current and valid driver’s license required
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel as needed
• Physically able to climb ladders, transit decks, and work aboard Navy vessels
