Project Manager in Austin
Job DescriptionJob Description
Senior Project Manager
Austin, TX | Onsite | 12+ Months
iSphere is looking for a Senior Project Manager who can take a large, complicated project, bring some order to the chaos, and keep everyone moving in the same direction. You will be working onsite in Austin with technical teams, business leaders, vendors, and executives, all of whom may occasionally believe their priority is the priority.
This is not a sit-back-and-forward-status-emails kind of project management role. You will be responsible for the entire project picture, including scope, schedules, budgets, resources, risks, communications, vendor commitments, and the inevitable changes that show up after everyone agreed there would be no more changes.
You will build and maintain the project plan, establish realistic milestones, lead meetings that actually accomplish something, and make sure issues are addressed before they turn into emergencies. You will also provide clear reporting to leadership, manage formal change controls, and keep the project aligned with governance, procurement, and FAST contract requirements.
The right person knows how to work within a structured environment without getting buried in the structure. You should be organized, direct, comfortable having difficult conversations, and capable of keeping technical and business teams aligned when they do not always speak the same .
Here is what you will need:
• 8+ years of experience managing large-scale, complex IT or business transformation projects
• Strong knowledge of PMI, PMBOK, Agile, and hybrid project management methods
• Experience managing project schedules, budgets, resources, risks, issues, and change controls
• A proven ability to coordinate technical teams, business groups, vendors, and executive stakeholders
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including executive-level reporting
• Experience using MS Project, Smartsheet, Jira, or similar project management tools
• Experience working within formal governance, procurement, policy, and compliance requirements
• The ability to work onsite in Austin for the duration of the assignment
Experience with Texas state government, public safety, law enforcement, FAST or DIR contracts, enterprise applications, or large data system implementations would be a big plus. PMP certification is , although we also appreciate people who can prove they know how to run a project without pointing at the letters after their name.
