Project Manager
Our client , a multinational defence company , are currently seeking an experienced Software Project Manager to work in a permanent capacity to be involved in the full lifecycle of activities across the project from Bid, through Development, into Installation and Long-Term Support. The successful candidate can be based at either their busy and secure site in either Christchurch or Yeovil (Hybrid working arrangements: 2-3 days onsite). Due to the nature of our clients work, the role will require successful applicant to hold security clearance to SC level or be will and able to undergo the Vetting process to achieve this. Could you deliver cutting edge technology projects supporting the latest digital developments to our military customers? As a Software Project Manager, you will be responsible for a suite of Software products deployed into UK and international Defence organisations. You will be involved in the full lifecycle of activities across the project from Bid, through Development, into Installation and Long-Term Support. This role will provide you with the opportunity to be involved within multi Products range from Mission Planning Systems for Fast Jet and Helicopter platforms, Technical Publications Viewers deployed to in excess of 50 Platforms Worldwide, Web Services, Tactical Data Link systems and Logistic Systems. You will be given the opportunity to grow your skills within project management and the wider team. Your main responsibilities as a Software Project Manager will involve: Managing and leading the project and delivery team Supporting the development of business cases and bidding documentation Identifying project objectives and outcomes Developing and tracking project plans, budget and schedule The identification, development and management of stakeholder relationships Reporting on project status to team members, leadership and external stakeholders Ensuring business, project and quality management processes are effectively applied across projects Essential skills Project management of development activities within a technical/engineering environment particularly within software Mentoring staff and leading teams Working to defined and structured lifecycle processes with formal gate reviews and a culture of measurement and continuous improvement Desirable skills Agile/waterfall environment would be beneficial Engineering or defence industry is Project management qualification or hands on experience What we're looking for in you: You will demonstrate a 'can do' attitude and be able to deliver on commitments within agreed budgets and timescales.
